SANLIURFA - Turkish Prime Ministry Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Regional Development Administration Deputy Chairman Dr. Ferhat Selli briefed a delegation including ambassadors, agriculture and economy consultants from 15 countries about ``investments in GAP``.
Selli said that GAP was an integrated development project which aimed to increase water and land resources and raise living conditions of people in the region.
Stating that after some sections of the GAP started to serve, socio-economic structure of the region would be reshaped, Selli noted that after the project was completed, 3.8 million people would be able to have jobs under the project.
Noting that 16.6 billion U.S. dollars had been spent for the project so far, Selli said that it was foreseen that the project would cost totally 32 billion U.S. dollars.
Selli added that they would make direct investments especially in irrigation sector from now on.
