ANKARA - Automobiles are at the first place with 41,140 among all motor vehicles of 74,638 registered in May of 2004.
The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) said on Saturday that automobiles took the first place with 55.1 percent, followed by small trucks with 27.3 percent, motorcycle with 10.9 percent and truck with 2.9 percent among all motor vehicles registered in May of 2004.
Minibus, bus, road construction and work machinery and special purpose vehicles constituted 3.8 percent of all registered motor vehicles.
Meanwhile, 33,695 motor vehicles were withdrawn from records.
In the same period last year, 21,338 motor vehicles were registered while 1,854 motor vehicles were withdrawn.
The rate of motor vehicles registered in March of 2004 is 67 percent for the first ten, according to their abundance by the following provinces: Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Adana, Mugla, Gaziantep, Mersin and Balikesir.
The trademarks of motor vehicles registered first time in May of 2004 are follows: Renault 18.7 percent, Opel 11.8 percent, Ford 11.7 percent, Volkswagen 9.9 percent, Tofas(Murat-Fiat) 9.5 percent, Peugeot 7.4 percent, Hyundai 7.1 percent, Toyota 4.5 percent, Honda 3.4 percent and others 16.1 percent.
Meanwhile, 317,765 motor vehicles were registered while 132,341 motor vehicles were withdrawn in the January-May period of the year.
