ANKARA, Sept 25 (AFP) - An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the open-ended Richter scale shook the southeastern Turkish province of Elazig on Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The tremor, which struck at 5:28 pm (1428 GMT), was centered at the town of Sivrice, the Istanbul-based Kandilli seismological institute said.
Eleven people were injured and several buildings damaged when a tremor measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit the same town last month.
Earthquakes are frequent in Turkey, where some 20,000 people were killed in two massive tremors in 1999.
