Erdogan: We Are Calling An Emergency Session Of Parliament On Sunday

BRUSSELS - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that Parliament will be called to convene for an emergency meeting to be held on Sunday.
Erdogan told a joint press conference with European Commission President Romano Prodi that, ''our friends (within the AK party) will apply within 1-2 hours.''
Stating that the remaining articles would be discussed in the emergency session on Sunday, Erdogan said the Turkish government had very fruitful contacts with the EU Commission, led by Prodi, in the past two years.
Emphasizing that in-depth reforms were made in Turkey, Erdogan added that the reforms will continue.
In his part Prodi said he and Erdogan had the opportunity to assess recent important political developments. Stating that they discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and the EU as well as the regional issues, Prodi said, the report on Turkey that will be issued on October 6th would be ''impartial and fair''.
Prodi said he would submit the report to the (EU) parliament after its release on October 6th.
