ISTANBUL - Turkish markets have positively responded to the statement of European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen who said after his meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that there were no further obstacles on Turkey`s path to EU entry talks.
Following the joint news conference of Prime Minister Erdogan and Verheugen, Turkish stock exchange rose, rate of U.S. dollar dropped and interest rates reduced.
The Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) National-100 Index started the second session with an increase of 22.80 points. The increase in the index reached 465.90 points within minutes.
Meanwhile, price of 1 U.S. dollars went down from 1,514,000 Turkish liras (TL) to 1,501,000 TL.
