GAZA CITY, Sept 23 (AFP) - At least seven Palestinians were wounded early Thursday when Israeli helicopters attacked the Khan Yunis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip for the second time in one night, Palestinian security sources said.
At the same time, Israeli settlers using many vehicles, among them bulldozers, drove into the refugee camp, which sparked a trading of shots between Israeli military and armed Palestinians, the sources said.
Five Palestinians were wounded in that clash, several of them seriously.
Earlier in the night, Israeli helicopters had already attacked the refugee camp once. Israeli military sources said that attack was aimed at two armed Palestinians who had approached an army unit, in the area to root out gunfire targeting Israeli soldiers and settlements.
Mortars and anti-tank weapons were used earlier against the Israeli settlement of Gush Katif, immediately adjacent to the camp, without causing any injuries, the sources told AFP.
