BAGHDAD, Sept 22 (AFP) - The US embassy in Baghdad said Wednesday it has received the decapitated body of US hostage Jack Hensley from Iraqi authorities and that it was making arrangements to fly the corpse home to his family.
"We can confirm that it is Hensley`s body," an embassy official told AFP. "It was decapitated and we are making arrangements to fly his body home at the request of his family."
The embassy had said earlier that it received a body from Iraqi authorities without providing details.
An Internet statement late Tuesday attributed to the Tawhid wal Jihad (Unity and Holy War) group said it had beheaded Hensley, the day after it showed a graphic video of the execution of his colleague Eugene "Jack" Armstrong.
Washington had confirmed on Monday that a body found that day in western Baghdad was that of Armstrong.
