Yildirim Says They Are Taking Measures To Assure Security Of Turkish Drivers

ISTANBUL - Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said that they were taking measures to assure the security of Turkish drivers shuttling between Turkey and Iraq, noting, ''we are working on alternative roads.''
After attending a conference on ''International Highway Transportation'', Yildirim replied to questions of reporters.
Answering a question on security of Turkish drivers in Iraq, Yildirim said that Turkish Foreign Ministry, Highway Transportation Administration and representatives of transportation companies were holding talks on the issue.
Yildirim said that they were taking measures aiming to decrease and prevent saddening incidents there, adding that they were working on alternative roads.
Yildirim said that they recommended that transportation companies prefer roads in Syria when their trucks were trying to reach south of Iraq. He noted that there was an authority vacuum in the north of Iraq, and security problems were stemming from this vacuum.''
