ANKARA - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen received Awad Bard Al-Ezinc, the Acting Chairman of Kuwait-Turkey Interparliamentary Friendship Group, and an accompanying delegation on Wednesday.
When reminded of the last hostage-taking incidents in Iraq and asked whether they were taking new security measures, Tuzmen said that Turkish Foreign Ministry was working on this issue.
''No matter what we do, it is impossible to eliminate the risk there. We are working on measures aiming to decrease risk,'' he noted. Stating that Iraq was a very important market for Turkey, Tuzmen noted that Iraqi people needed Turkey.
-RELATIONS BETWEEN TURKEY AND KUWAIT-
Tuzmen also said that Turkey aimed to develop mutual economic ties and relations with Kuwait.
Stating that bilateral relations should be improved, Tuzmen noted that products should be diversified in trade between the two countries.
He stressed that Turkish companies should participate in infrastructure and superstructure investments in Kuwait, adding they hoped Kuwaiti companies to participate in privatization in Turkey as well. Tuzmen noted that they also expected Kuwaiti investors to take part in Southeastern Anatolian Project (GAP).
On the other hand, Al-Ezinc said that there were many projects under construction in Kuwait, stating that Turkish companies should bid for those projects.
