NEW YORK - UN General Assembly's 59th session will start on Tuesday with the participation of heads of state and government and foreign ministers from more than 100 countries and under tight security measures.
Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will be busy today with bilateral meetings.
UN Press Center issued a statement and said 62 heads of state, 21 prime ministers, two deputy head of states, one crown prince, and 91 foreign ministers or deputy foreign ministers are attending the UN General Assembly meetings.
Brazilian Head of State Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be first speaker to address the UN general assembly. U.S. President George Bush will take the floor following da Silva.
Turkish Foreign Minister Gul on the other hand, will meet today Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath and foreign ministers of Jordan and Egypt, Marwan Muasher and Ahmed Maher.
Gul will later come together with his Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom, Portuguese Foreign Minister Teresa Gouveia, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini, and Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot.
In the evening, Gul will attend a reception to be hosted by U.S. President George Bush.
