ANKARA - Istanbul will soon host an international conference on ''Africa'', it was announced.
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Parliamentarian Suleyman Gunduz said an ''International Conference on Africa'' will be held in January or February in Istanbul.
Clashes in Africa, other problems and proposals regarding solution of questions will be discussed in the four-day meeting. African leaders, intellectuals, scientists, journalists, and representatives of NGOs will attend the meeting, Gunduz noted.
He said political and economic situation in Africa; cultural development, regional and international problems in the continent would be assessed, and ways of solution will be discussed.
''Africa will become very important in the coming years. Some countries lost their interest in the continent. Our target is to open a window to Africa,'' Gunduz emphasized.
