Denktas: We Have Been Deceived

LEFKOSA - Rauf Denktas, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said, ``we have been deceived,`` (because of the initiatives of the Greek Cypriot government), adding that Turkish Cypriots should open their eyes and act together.
Stating that (UN Secretary General Kofi) Annan plan was not valid anymore since Greek Cypriots voted against the plan, Denktas said that despite this fact, if the plan was revised in line with the demands of Greek Cypriots and imposed as a (new) UN Security Council resolution, Turkish Cypriots should resist it.
Denktas recalled that Turkish Cypriots voted in favor of the Annan plan, stating that their goodwill put them into a bad posture.
``Turkey protected us and maintains its position. But they wanted to possess us by putting pressure on Turkey. We have been deceived. We should open our eyes and act together,`` he added.
