BIRMINGHAM, England (AFP) - Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to field against India in the ICC Champions Trophy Pool C match at Edgbaston here.
The winners of this sell-out match were guaranteed a place in the semi-final, against either South Africa or West Indies at the Rose Bowl, Southampton, on Wednesday.
Both India and Pakistan had beaten Kenya in their previous Pool matches.
India made one change to the team that defeated the Africans with wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik dropped in favour of batsman Rohan Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid donning the gloves again.
Pakistan were unchanged. They had beaten India in their last two one-day internationals, at the Asia Cup and last month's Dutch triangular event.
India were without star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who was ruled out before the tournament began with an elbow injury.
The start was delayed by 15 minutes to 0930GMT as groundstaff tried to remove some remaining dampness from the pitch following several days of rain.
