E.U. Rejects U.S. Request On Airbus, Boeing Subsidies

BRUSSELS (AFP) - The European Union rejected a request by the United States to eliminate public subsidies for the aerospace groups Airbus and Boeing, a European Commission spokesman revealed.

US and EU trade officials had held talks to thrash out prospects for changing, or even scrapping, a 1992 agreement that Washington says has allowed Airbus to steal a march on its arch-rival Boeing.
