Iran Calls For Islamic Unity Against U.S. Domination

TEHRAN, Sept 13 (AFP) - Iran's supreme leader on Monday called for Islamic unity in the face of repressive American power, accusing it of seeking total domination of the Middle East.
"Today the Arab world must unite to resist everywhere and by all means repressive American power," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.
"American power is attacking the Islamic world under the pretext of fighting terrorism and using slogans like liberty and democracy (but) drags the people of Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine through blood," Khamenei was quoted as saying by the official IRNA agency.
"The United States' logic is terror, aggression and force, and America, which has never had a logic of dialogue, will not accept anything less than total domination of the Islamic world and the Middle East."
Washington is exerting pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme, and US President George W. Bush considers the Islamic republic part of the axis of evil.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were broken after Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution and the subsequent hostage crisis at the US embassy in Tehran.
