VILNIUS - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul instructed that necessary initiatives should be launched to extend humanitarian aid to people in Tal Afar city of Iraq where clashes reached an unfavorable level, sources said on Sunday.
It was learned that Foreign Minister Gul instructed concerned Turkish authorities to contact U.S. authorities, and hold a preliminary study on organization of humanitarian aid.
Sources quoted Washington as saying that Turkey's wish to send humanitarian aid to the region was very important and positive for cooperation in Iraq.
U.S. authorities said that there should be cooperation and coordination regarding humanitarian aid, adding that they would respond to the matter immediately.
