Pastusiak Says Poland Will Extend Every Kind Of Support To Turkey's Accession To E.U.

ISTANBUL - Longin Pastusiak, the Speaker of the Polish Senate, said on Saturday that Poland would extend every kind of support to Turkey's accession to the European Union (EU).
Pastusiak attended ''Autumn Activities'' organized by Polish people who have been living in Polonezkoy in Istanbul since 1842.
Stating that he held meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc, Pastusiak noted that he told Turkish officials that they were impressed by reforms that Turkey fulfilled on its accession to the EU. Pastusiak stated that he said in those meetings that Poland was ready to support Turkey's membership process, adding that he also told them that Turkey, which had a very strong place in NATO, would also be an important partner of the EU.
Pastusiak noted that Polish people living in Polonezkoy maintained their cultural and religious life for 162 years, underlining that this situation was a good model for Turkey's entry to the Union.
