ANTAKYA - Turkish police detained five people in connection with an attempt to sabotage the railway near Dortyol town of southern city of Hatay, the Police Department said on Thursday.
A statement of Hatay Police Department said that terrorist Mesut Sakin, 17, died when the bomb he wanted to plant on a railway bridge near Dortyol town, exploded in his hand. He was trying to sabotage the passenger train en route from Mersin to Iskenderun, it was learned.
The statement also said that Sakin had been a member of the terrorist organization PKK/Kongra-Gel since 2002.
On the other hand, Hatay Police Chief Cafer Sahin told A.A correspondent that Hamili Yildirim, who was a top member of the terrorist organization PKK/Kongra-Gel and who was arrested in Syria a while ago, was brought to Hatay.
Sahin said that Hamili was sent to prison after he was interrogated.
Meanwhile, terrorist Gulseren Aslan, who was also arrested in Syria a while ago and sent to Turkey, was also imprisoned, it was learned.
