WE ARE POISONED OPENLY
MV Ulla vessel carried 2,200 tones of ashes which is poisonous and carcinogen to Algeria. Algeria did not accept it and British company sent the vessel to its agency in Turkey. The vessel, which anchored in Iskenderun Port for refueling, became a calamity. And it sank in the gulf in a mysterious way.
ERDOGAN: WE PROTECT DECEIVED WOMAN
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said regarding ''adultery crime'' that 80 percent of the society is supporting them and he added, ''we protect deceived woman.'' The adultery issue will be discussed again during the meeting of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Central Executive Board today.

VERHEUGEN: MY VIEW IS YES
The European Union (EU) Commissioner for enlargement Guenter Verheugen visited Southeast Anatolian region yesterday. Verheugen, who will affect the EU's decision on starting entry talks with Turkey with his report, revealed his view about the final stage. He said that his view is same with Turkey's, adding that he is in favor of starting entry talks with Turkey and it will accelerate reform process.
BRITAIN BOUGHT SKORSKY
Savings Deposit Insurance Fund sold two helicopters which it confiscated in return to the debts of Uzan family. Sancak Airways bought one of the helicopters by paying 791 billion Turkish Liras. The Skorsky was bought by a British company in return for 8 trillion 375 billion Turkish Liras.

THEY WELCOMED VERHEUGEN WITH BULLETS
Terrorists attacked on a police station at night in southeastern city of Diyarbakir when European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen passed the night there.
A policeman and a guard were killed during the attack.
ERDOGAN: WE WILL TAKE OVER ISAF COMMAND
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey will take over International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)'s command, which it undertook in 2002, again in February 2005.
Erdogan said, ''we believe that this mission, we will undertake in Afghanistan shortly after the presidential elections are held, will not only strengthen peace and stability in this region but also contribute to creation of a secure atmosphere.''

NGOs: AK PARTY COVERS ITS INSUFFICIENCY WITH 'ADULTERY'
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who started adultery discussions said that when adultery has become crime, the right of deceived woman will be protected. Woman Foundations and non-governmental organizations described the request of making adultery a crime as 'outworn'. Aysegul Kaya, a volunteer of Mor Cati (Purple Attic) woman shelter, said that the government started adultery discussions to cover insufficiency in its policies.
INSPECTION OF EU COMMISSIONER CONTINUES
The European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen met people of Tuzla village in Lice town of southeast Diyarbakir province that was evacuated after terrorist attacks in 1995. Noting that cultural and social rights of Kurdish people should be increased, Verheugen said that extreme expectation for Turkey's membership to the EU frightened him and has become a burden for him.

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen, met people who returned to their villages in southeastern city of Diyarbakir.
Verheugen said he was impressed by the changes in the region, noting, ''however, people in the region want more economic, social and political rights.''
KURDISH LEADERS IN ANKARA
Representatives of two Kurdish parties in north of Iraq arrived in Ankara on Tuesday.
Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party (IKDP) official Nechirvan Barzani, who made a statement at the Airport, condemned attacks on Turkish drivers.
Meanwhile, Jalal Talabani, the leader of the Patriotic Union for Iraqi Kurdistan (PUK), also arrived in Turkey on Tuesday together with a delegation.

ERDOGAN: THE TARGET IS TO PRESERVE FAMILY
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said they would not step back from the study on considering adultery as crime.
Erdogan said, ''as the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), the requirement of our conservatism is to preserve and assure the family unity.
PEPE: IT CAN BE SABOTAGE
Sudden sinking of the ship, loaded with toxic waste, led to suspicions.
Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe said the ship may have sunk as a result of sabotage.
Environmental alarm was given for the cargo ship ''MV Ulla'' which sunk in Iskenderun port on Monday.
The ship was carrying fly ash substance, a byproduct of burning coal, which had been sent from a Spanish company to Algeria to be used in dam construction. But, the substance was not accepted in Algeria, and the ship had been moored in Iskenderun port for about four and a half years.
Measures were taken for possible leakage of toxic waste from the ship.
Pepe said he was suspicious that there may be a sabotage on the ship, stating, ''why did this ship sink as it was about to go to Spain.''

OWNER OF PRICELESS MANUSCRIPT NOT FOUND
The manuscript which is 550 years old is waiting for its owner nearly for one year at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. The manuscript named ''Muhammediye'' and written by Yazicizade Mehmed in 1449 was found a package sent from London. The owner of the priceless manuscript cannot be found.
EUROPE WARNS FOR AIRCRAFT SUPERVISION
It is revealed that Turkey, which tries to pursue the supervision of 593 aircraft with one technician, was warned by European Civil Aviation Organization two years ago.

VERHEUGEN GIVES POSITIVE MESSAGES ABOUT EU PROGRESS REPORT
European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen visited Lice township of southeastern city of Diyarbakir and Tuzla village which was earlier evacuated because of terrorism.
Verheugen said steps taken on cultural and social rights were pleasing.
Asked about willingness of a majority of Turkish people, particularly those in the Southeast, to be a member of the EU, Verheugen said, ''it is pleasant that Turkish people, particularly those living in the Southeast, find the EU attractive.'
Replying to a question, Verheugen said the inadequacies he has seen in the village would not have a negative impact on the report. He said, ''poverty of those people will in no way affect the report.''
VERHEUGEN VISITS KA-MER
European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen visited KA-MER (women center) in southeastern city of Diyarbakir.
Verheugen said KA-MER had made important studies to defend women's rights, adding, ''democracy cannot be realized without gender equality.''
KA-MER Chairwoman Nebahat Akkoc in her part said Turkey made important steps on the way to the EU, stressing that, ''Turkey deserves to be a full member of the EU.'' She said Verheugen's visit to KA-MER shows the support of him to women.
