CULVER CITY, California, Aug 16 (AFP) - The fervently anti-Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" will be released on video and DVD in the United States on October 5, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Monday.
Videos and DVDs of filmmaker Michael Moore`s documentary, which has so far earned more than 115 million dollars in movie theaters, will be released one month before voters decide whether to re-elect President George W. Bush.
The Republican president`s response to the September 11, 2001, attacks is the target of Moore`s film, and the documentary-maker has said he hoped his film would influence the November 2 election`s outcome. Bush will face Democratic Senator John Kerry in the election.
The DVD will feature extra footage, including a scene titled "Outside Abu Ghraib Prison," reactions from Arab-American comics and material from the independent commission that investigated the September 11 attacks, Sony said in a statement.
The DVDs and videos will be released by Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures.
"Fahrenheit 9/11" is the highest grossing documentary of all time. It debuted in US theaters on June 25.
Walt Disney Corp. refused to release the politically-charged movie in theaters. The film was sold to a production company owned by Miramax bosses Harvey and Bob Weinstein and distributed by Lion`s Gate Entertainment, a Canadian company.
