AMSTERDAM - The Dutch Justice Ministry decided on Tuesday to extradite Nuriye Kesbir, a member of the terrorist organization PKK, to Turkey.
A statement of the Dutch Justice Ministry said that Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner decided to abide by the decision of the supreme court to extradite Kesbir to Turkey, trusting promises of the Turkish authorities that the terrorist will face a fair trial.
The Hague Supreme Court, in May, decided to extradite Nuriye Kesbir to Turkey where she will be tried for the terrorist acts she had staged earlier.
Nuriye Kesbir was arrested in the fall of 2001 when she tried to enter the Netherlands illegally. She was released in December of the previous year despite Turkey's request for her extradition. The Amsterdam Court returned Turkey's demand for Kesbir's extradition, and freed the terrorist. The Prosecutor's Office had appealed this decision of the Amsterdam Court. In the end, the Supreme Court reversed this decision of the local court. In its extradition demand, Turkey had stated that Kesbir joined at least 25 terrorist acts which killed many people and which targeted at military personnel, between 1993 and 1995.
Kesbir was arrested after the hearing held last March.
On the other hand, the court rejected the lawsuit opened by Kesbir, asking for a change of the decision of the Dutch government which rejected her asylum demand.
