MOSCOW, Sept 7 (AFP) - Moscow police on Tuesday reported the arrest of two people who allegedly helped two Chechen women suspected of blowing up two Russian airliners last month, killing 90 people, Interfax reported.
He did not disclose their names, but ITAR-TASS said one of the suspects, identified as Armen Arutyunov from the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, was reportedly arrested on Monday at Moscow's Domodedovo airport.
He allegedly identified the two women suspects based on identikit pictures and acknowledged selling them two seats on board the planes.
Both aircraft left Moscow on August 24, one bound for the Black Sea resort of Sochi with 46 people aboard, the other headed carrying 44 people to the southern city of Volgograd. All 90 passengers were killed.
The report quoted police sources as saying the suspect had also helped the women evade security controls although he claimed not to have known of their plans.
Two women passengers whose bodies allegedly carried traces of explosives have been blamed for the almost simultaneous plane explosions.
The passengers were carrying passports in the names of Amnat Nagayeva and Satsitsa Jebirkhanova. Those names belong to two women from Chechnya.
Russian armed forces chief of staff, General Vladimir Mikhailov, has said the explosives were likely placed on board beforehand by accomplices, and that the suicide bombers merely detonated the charges.
