ZARAGOZA, Spain, Sept 7 (AFP) - Spanish police detained a British spectator who threw a stone at the Tour of Spain during Monday's third stage in northern Spain, race sporting director Victor Cordero told AFP Tuesday.
"As the one responsible for peloton security the police, who accompany us throughout, have filed a complaint against this spectator for disturbing public order and violating road safety laws.
"The police arrested him but let him return to England," said Cordero, adding that "he will have to answer to the Spanish authorities."
He added police said the man, aged 26 and dressed as a mountain biker, had thrown a piece of rock weighing some five kilograms (10 pounds).
No rider was injured in the incident at Salas de Los Infantes 56 kilometres (32 miles) into the stage between Burgos and Soria in northern Spain.
