AMMAN, Sept 6 (AFP) - Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher voiced his country`s concern Monday after Israel announced plans to build more fences around West Bank settlements.
"Israeli actions, particulary the political assassinations, the construction of the barrier and the expansion of settlements is a major source of concern for Jordan," Moasher told a news conference.
Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz earlier announced that Israel is to build a second network of fences around settlements in the south of the West Bank in addition to the larger separation barrier being constructed across the territory.
The International Court of Justice has ruled that parts of the barrier built within the West Bank are illegal and should be torn down, but Israel has ignored the ruling.
Jordan is one of the staunchest opponents of the separation barrier. It told the world court in February that it feared construction of the fence could trigger an exodus of Palestinians into its territory.
Moasher also accused Israel of "avoiding" implementing the internationally drafted Middle East peace "roadmap" which envisages the creation of a Palestinian state in 2005 but has made next to no progress since its launch last year.
The roadmap "is an international resolution for the (UN) Security Council and none of the parties have a right to avoid implementing it because it is not the property of Israel or anyone else," Moasher said.
