ALANA ALSO DIES
11-year old Turkish citizen Alana Dogan was reported to be among those who died in the school in Beslan. Her uncle said, ''I wish families of those who made us have this suffering would have the same suffering.''
Alana's mother and one-year old sister was freed by the terrorists. The terrorists took Alana as hostage although her mother begged ''release my children, take me as hostage.''
The saddening news about death of Alana came from Beslan Hospital. Officials said there was the dead body of a girl in the morgue and called her family to identify her.
Seyfi-Anetta Gadiava Dogan couple could only identify her from her clothes.
TURKISH-GREEK MEDIA TO MEET IN ATHENS
Press Council Secretariat General said Turkish-Greek Journalists Third Conference will convene in Athens between October 9th and 10th.
The conference will be organized by one of the Greek members of the group, owner of Krama Magazine Panos Kolipanos.
The ''Contact Group'' was formed in 1999 by three Turkish and three Greek journalists.
At least 50 journalists are expected to join the conference from Turkey.

ALANA PASSES AWAY
Turkish citizen Alana Dogan died in terrorist act in North Ossetia. Alana, who was taken hostage in terrorist act, has been missing for three days, but it was found out that she was killed in terrorist act. A total of 350 people died in hostage taking in North Ossetia, while 191 people are still missing.
''WELCOME TO EUROPE''
The European Union (EU) Commissioner, Enlargement, Guenter Verheugen arrived in Turkey. Verheugen will visit Ankara, Diyarbakir, Izmir and Istanbul. His visit before the announcement of EU Commission's Progress Report for Turkey on October 6th is very important to discuss recent developments in Turkey's reform process. Advertisements saying ''Citizen Verheugen, Welcome to Greater Europe'' in Turkish, English and Kurdish were posted on billboards in southern Diyarbakir province.

A THOUSAND TURKISH BUSINESSMEN TO SEND MESSAGE TO EU
The 5th General Assembly meeting of World Turkish businessmen will be held in Ankara between September 30th and October 1st.
Sources said 1,000 businessmen from nearly 40 different countries are expected to attend the meeting, however nearly 460 businessmen have applied to the meeting until now.
The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who will also inaugurate the meeting.
The aim of the meeting is to send a message to the European Union (EU) by providing solidarity among Turkish businessmen before the EU Commission unveils the report about Turkey and also to exert efforts for a positive report to be presented for Turkey.
INTERIOR MINISTER: TURKEY'S RESCUE TEAMS ARE EFFICIENT
Turkish Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu said, ''the recent terrorist act in Russia has showed the importance of international cooperation in fight against terrorism.''
Aksu told reporters that it is impossible not to curse terrorist act in Russia. Stressing that the global dimension of terrorism has emerged one more time in the recent terrorist act in Russia, Aksu said, ''the importance of international cooperation in fight against terrorism is understood. We have defended cooperation in fight against terrorism for years. World saw the real face of terrorism after September 11 attacks in the United States.''
Aksu said, ''we will further focus on the training of hostage rescue teams which has a special importance in fight against terrorism and we will send special operation teams under Security Directorate General to foreign countries for training if necessary.''

CRITICAL VISIT
The European Union (EU) Commissioner, Enlargement, Guenter Verheugen arrived in Turkey when one month is left for the announcement of Progress Report.
Verheugen came to Turkey to see the reforms on the spot.
Verhuegen will visit Diyarbakir, Izmir and Istanbul as well as Ankara.
KUREY'S VISIT TO TURKEY DELAYED
Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Kurey's visit to Turkey was postponed, it was reported on Sunday.
Diplomatic sources said Kurey's visit, which was scheduled to start on Monday, was delayed because of the internal political developments in Palestine.
Kurey was planning to visit Moscow after Ankara.

FLIRTATION ALSO BANNED IN NEW BILL
Former Director General of Women's Problems and Ankara University lecturer Dr. Selma Acuner explained problematic issues in new Turkish Penal Code (TCK) bill. Acuner said that TCK which increased marrying age to 17 banned flirtation between two youths at the age of 15-18. The new bill said that youths could not have relationship before they got married. The new TCK bill includes the view that flirtation is a crime and prostitution.

TUZMEN: FOREIGN INVESTMENTS TO INCREASE
State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said exports will reach 60 billion U.S. dollars by the end of the year.
Tuzmen said flow of foreign investments accelerated as Turkish economic strengthened.
Tuzmen also said Turkey's current account deficit seemed much, but noted that it was not difficult to overcome this deficit.
FAR EAST FILMS TO BE SHOWN IN FESTIVAL
Seven films, chosen by the Fare East Culture Center, will be shown in the 41st Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival activities.
The films of Taiwan, China, Korea and India can be seen between October 3rd and 10th in Istanbul.

1.3 MILLION PEOPLE VISIT IEF
The 73rd Izmir International Fair which was opened on August 27th was closed on Sunday. A total of 1,310,000 people visited the fair this year. Many companies from 60 countries participated in the fair, while 1,158 local and foreign companies joined the 73rd Izmir International Fair this year.

CIVI'S COMPANY DECIDES TO WITHDRAW FROM IRAQ
Renay International Transportation Company, which Turkish truck driver Mithat Civi worked for, decided to withdraw from Iraq on Sunday.
The Islamic Resistance Movement, Nu'man Brigades earlier kidnapped Civi and released a videotape asking the company to withdraw from Iraq within 48 hours.
Edip Rende, one of the shareholders of the Company, held a news conference and said that they evaluated all risks and decided to withdraw from Iraq for release of Civi and thus they have accepted the demand of the insurgents.
Rende said, ''Mithat Civi who was taken hostage in Iraq, is our driver. We were asked to end our activities in Iraq for release of Civi. We announce that we stopped our activities in Iraq. We hope our driver returns to our country soon and reaches to his family.''
TUZMEN: ''FOREIGN TRADE VOLUME WILL BE MORE THAN USD 1 BILLION BY THE END OF 2004''
Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said, ''Turkey's foreign trade volume with 30 countries will be more than one billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2004.''
Tuzmen said, ''we will make more than 1 billion U.S. dollars of export to 14 countries by the end of this year.''
Noting, ''Turkey's share in world trade is increasing,'' Tuzmen said, ''Turkey is on first ranks among the countries which are increasing their shares from world trade.''
Tuzmen said, ''when we examine export figures of the first 8 months, we will export products worth of more than 1 billion dollars to 14 countries by the end of 2004.
