LEFKOSA - Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus which convened for its second meeting in the buffer zone in Lefkosa on Friday discussed issues on the agenda.
Brian Kelly, the press spokesman of the United Nations Peace Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), released a statement, saying that members of the committee took up how the committee would expand its activities and responsibilities under recommendations of the U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan in his letters on the issue.
The new task of the committee was determined as completing researches within the scope of rules which also cover main lines on exhumation, identification and researches determined with special agreement dated July 31st, 1997 and 1981 Reference Terms.
The statement noted that the next meeting of the committee would be held on September 7th, adding that the committee decided to conclude studies as soon as possible.
