BESLAN, Russia, Sept 4 (AFP) - More than 10 members of the Russian special forces were killed when troops stormed a school where militants held hundreds captive, the Interfax agency said Saturday, citing a source in the regional interior ministry.
"On Friday in the course of the special operation to free the hostages over 10 special forces members were killed," the source said.
Eighteen members of the special forces are currently in a military hospital in the regional capital Vladikavkaz after being wounded in the assault, the source added.
