ANKARA - Turkey strongly condemned terrorist act in the North Ossetia, agreeing with the United Nations (UN) Security Council's statement on this, Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry noted that they learned with deep sorrow and worry that some people died at the beginning of the hostage taking in Bessan city in the North Ossetian Autonomous Republic of the Russian Federation.
It noted, ''Turkey, which believes that terrorism constitutes the biggest threat to international peace and security, disapproves and condemns every kind of terrorist act no matter what its logic is.''
Stating that Turkey considered in a similar way other terrorist acts which were staged in public areas or aiming public transport vehicles in Russia, the statement underlined that Turkey condemned strongly this terrorist act which endangered the lives of innocent people, including school children. It added that Turkey wished hostages be released as soon as possible.
In the statement, Turkey also offered its condolences to relatives of people who died in the terrorist act.
