ATHENS, Sep 1 (AFP) - A Greek fighter jet crashed Wednesday in the Aegean sea during a training flight as the pilot parachuted to safety, a Greek military spokesman said.
The single-seat Mirage 2000 crashed near the island of Skyros, and the pilot was rescued by an air force helicopter, Constantinos Prionas, spokesman for the Greek airforce, told AFP.
An inquiry has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
Another Greek combat aircraft -- the same model -- crashed in the Aegean in November 2003, also during a training exercise.
