Islamist Group Claims Moscow Blast In Internet Statement

DUBAI, Aug 31 (AFP) - An Islamist group calling itself the Islambouli Brigades claimed responsibility for a blast outside a Moscow subway station which killed at least 10 people Tuesday, in a statement posted on an Islamist website.
The group initially denied a claim of responsibility attributed to it on an internet site, but then issued a statement saying it had carried out "this heroic operation in support of Chechen Muslims."
Officials in Moscow said at least 10 people were killed and 51 others injured when a female suicide bomber blew herself up outside the busy subway station.
The explosion caused scenes of carnage outside the station in central Moscow and came just a week after 90 people were killed in twin plane crashes over Russia that have been blamed on Chechen extremists.
The Islambouli Brigades also claimed responsibility for those crashes.
