ANKARA (CIHAN) - Turkey has been celebrating 82nd anniversary of the military victory as part of the Great Offensive.
The victory was turning point for the Turkish independence war as the victory resulted in total rout of invading forces.
The first ceremony was held at Ataturk's Mausoleum in Ankara where Turkish Chief of Staff Hilmi Ozkok laid a wreath at the tomb of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey.
Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will watch military parade and August 30 celebrations.
Later, Turkish Chief of General Staff Hilmi Özkök will host an reception at Gazi Officers House.
Turkish signers Sertap Erener and Muazzez Ersoy will stage concerts to celebrate victory day.
Meanwhile, Ankara Governor closed certain roads to traffic due to the victory day. Konya Yolu (from Balgat Bridge to Security Authority Directorate), Kazim Karabekir, Hipodrom and Istanbul Streets will be close to traffic.
