Autonomous Committee Of Missing Persons Convenes In Lefkosa

LEFKOSA - Autonomous Committee of Missing Persons which was formed to determine missing persons in Cyprus convened on Monday in Lefkosa after four years of interval.
The committee comprised of one Turkish Cypriot, one Greek Cypriot and one U.N. representative convened in Ledra Palace Hotel.
Rustem Tatar is representing Turkish Cypriot side, Ilia Georgiadis is representing Greek Cypriot side and Pier Couperan is representing the U.N. in the meeting.
The prime agenda item of the meeting is which institution will conduct DNA tests.
While United Nations and Greek Cypriot officials stipulated DNA tests to be performed in the Genetics Hospital in the Greek Cypriot side, the Turkish side wanted the hospital to be opened to joint use of two communities in line with its target of establishment.
Turkish Cypriot side stressed that DNA tests should be conducted in Turkey unless the hospital was opened to joint use of the two communities. The Turkish Cypriot side said that it was not a pre-condition, and conveyed its message that the committee should convene immediately whether a compromise was reached on place of DNA tests to the United nations.
