RAMALLAH, West Bank, Aug 30 (AFP) - Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qorei will travel to Russia and Turkey next week to hold talks on the state of the Middle East peace process, his office said on Monday.
Qorei is scheduled to meet with Turkish officials in Ankara on September 6 and 7 while he will be in Moscow on the following two days.
Russia, one of the four backers of the troubled roadmap peace plan for the Middle East, has traditionally had close ties with the Palestinians but has warmed towards Israeli under the presidency of Vladimir Putin.
Turkey by contrast has traditionally had close relations with Israel but ties have been strained in recent months with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan voicing strident criticism of his counterpart Ariel Sharon`s hardline policies towards the Palestinians.
There were no immediate details on the itinerary for Qorei in Moscow or Ankara.
