The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, whose ads targeting John Kerry ignited a national controversy, announced Sunday they will continue their campaign through the 2 November election.
Founder Roy Hoffman, a retired admiral, told Time magazine the group collected 2.5 million dollars from more than 37,000 donors after a limited initial ad buy in three states. The ads challenged Kerry's Vietnam record and his honesty.
The organization has faced criticism over ties to President Bush's re-election team. Two Bush campaign staffers resigned because of their connections to the group.
