ANKARA - One of the two dead bodies found in Iraqi town of Baiji was identified as Turkish driver Ramazan Erkul, while the other was reported to be an Iraqi citizen, diplomatic sources said on Saturday.
Diplomatic sources said that Turkish driver Erkul was shot to death, stating that Erkul's body was kept in a hospital in Tikrit.
The same sources noted that Iraqi authorities continued an investigation regarding the matter, adding that Erkul's body would be sent to Turkey after the investigation ended.
On the other hand, whether Erkul was taken as a hostage, or he was shot to death by opening a fire on his vehicle when he was driving the car has not become clear yet, it was stated.
On Friday, Al-Jazeera television had reported that two Turks, taken hostage in Iraq, were shot to death in Iraqi town of Baiji.
