GUMULCINE (CIHAN) - A group of Greek racists tortured a young man of Turkish origin named as 'Yasin' at the village of Gebecili (Pizoma) in Greek Western Thrace on August 23, newspapers in Greece have reported.
Greek and Turkish newspapers have reported that four Greeks, whose ancestors hail from Anatolia, on 23 August kidnapped a young Turkish-origin male aged 25 and bound him to the gate of the empty villa of another person of Turkish origin. The fanatical Greeks then violently tortured and raped the Turkish male. They also wrote threatening slogans on the gate and walls of the villa. The Turkish victim is currently in the intensive care unit of Gümülcine (Komotini) State Hospital.
Western Thrace Turkish minority representatives have applied to the Turkish Consulate in Gümülcine demanding assistance in the case and also seeking the bringing to justice of the Greek racists. The incident has also been extensively covered in the newspapers of the Turkish minority in Greece.
