ATHENS, Aug 27 (AFP) - Yan Bhartelemy of Cuba came from behind to beat Zou Shiming of China in Friday's light flyweight (48kg) semi-finals to reach Sunday's Olympic final when he fights 17-year-old Turkish sensation Atagun Yalcinkaya.
Yalcinkaya, who is six days younger than Britain's Amir Khan as the youngest medal winner for half a century, stunned Russian world champion Sergey Kazakov.
"I promised I would win the gold medal and I am working towards that step by step," said the Istanbul teenager.
"I am so happy and excited, and now I think I can win the final."
Zou, 23, had beaten the Cuban 2001 world champion in last year's world championships in Bangkok where he went on to win the silver medal, losing to Kazakov in the final.
"I opened the contest very quickly but the third round was the turning point," said Zou.
"I do not have much experience in big competitions like this, but I hope to use the lessons I have learned here to do better at the Beijing Olympic Games."
And he quickly took the fight to the 24-year-old Cuban southpaw, taking the first round 6-2. Bhartelemy was unable to get in close and the Chinese darted in and out to score freely, building his lead to 11-7 by the second.
But the Cuban finally cornered his man in the third to send him down with a left cross and almost finished him off with another combination.
He turned around 20-14 ahead and cruised through the final round to win 29-17.
Zou's bronze medal was China's first Olympic boxing medal.
The 28-year-old Russian was taken by surprise by the Turk's aggressive start but after losing the first round he steadily worked his way back in front to lead 10-9 after two rounds.
But the Turkish teenager stepped up his attacks to lead 16-14 after the third and kept punching to the end to finish an emphatic 26-20 winner.
