U.S. Economic Growth Brakes To 2.8 Percent Pace In Second Quarter

WASHINGTON, Aug 27 (AFP) - US economic growth braked harder than first thought in the second quarter, slowing to a 2.8 percent annual rate as consumer spending crumbled, a government report showed Friday.
The expansion in US gross domestic product, or total economic output, weakened from 4.5 percent in the first quarter to the slowest rate in more than a year, the Commerce Department said.
