70 Percent In New York Disapprove Bush Job Performance: Poll

NEW YORK, Aug 26 (AFP) - Four days from the Republican National Convention here, a poll out Thursday showed voters in this heavily Democratic city disapprove of President George W. Bush's job performance by a margin of 70 to 25 percent.
The 822 voters surveyed by the Quinnipiac University (Connecticut) Polling Institute gave New York's Republican mayor, Michael Bloomberg, a 44 to 42 percent job approval rating, and said, 66 to 30, that the convention in Madison Square Garden, along with expected protest demonstrations, would cause a major disruption in the city.
Of those polled, 77 percent said New Yorkers would be good convention hosts, 15 said they would not, and 10 percent said they were planning to leave the city during the four-day event.
The poll had a margin for error of plus or minus 3.4 points.
