MOSCOW, Aug 26 (AFP) - A top investigator into the Russian plane crashes gave the first hint Thursday that Moscow suspected Chechen rebels may have been involved in the incidents, Interfax reported.
Russia's Transportation Minister Igor Levitin said investigators were looking into why no one came to collect the corpse of a woman that he identified as Dzhabrailova -- a Chechen name.
"At the moment, we are investigating all version of events, including why no one came to look for the Tu-154 passenger Dzhabrailova."
At the same time he added: "We have no direct information that she was a terrorist."
The passenger jet was one of two that left Moscow on Tuesday evening from Domomodedovo airport, both crashing over southern Russia within minutes of each other.
Russia has not yet officially linked the incidents to a potential attack from Chechen rebels, who have vowed to strike Russia in order to interrupt controversial elections to be staged there Sunday.
Earlier Thursday, Russian investigators maintained that they were still pursuing all leads into the near-simultaneous crashes of two passenger planes hundreds of kilometers (miles) apart soon after they left the same airport.
