Israeli, Palestinian Ministers Meet In Italy

ROME, Aug 26 (AFP) - Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom and his Palestinian counterpart Nabil Shaath held "extremely useful" talks in the Italian Adriatic resort city of Rimini on Thursday, Italy's Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual convention of "Communione e Liberazione" -- a conservative Catholic association attended by right-wing politicians and business leaders.
"The impression I have is that there is a will by the parties to work and not to be blocked by obstacles," Frattini was quoted by the Ansa news agency as saying.
He said the talks were "tangible testimony to the will to find a recipe to resolve the problems of the Middle East".
Frattini said the fact that the two ministers had travelled to Rimini to meet was an "obvious sign of their willingness to keep open a channel of dialogue".
