Two Romanian Warplanes Collide, Pilots Safe

BUCHAREST, Aug 26 (AFP) - Two Romanian Russian-made MiG-21 warplanes collided Thursday over the town of Cristesti in the centre of the country while on an exercise, a defence ministry spokesman said.
The pilots successfully ejected but suffered minor injuries, a member of the local rescue team said.
The two planes had recently been modernised by the Romanians. One plunged into the courtyard of a house, giving the owner leg injuries. The other fell on a garage which caught fire.
A committee of inquiry into the accident has been set up and visited the site of the crash.
