PARIS - EU could not become a global actor without Turkey, chief advisor to the prime minister of Turkey said on Thursday.
French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) and Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation organized a conference on Turkey-EU relations at French Senate in Paris.
Delivering a speech in the morning session of the conference, Ahmet Davutoglu, chief advisor to Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that crisis in Caucasus and developments in the Middle East put forth Turkey`s importance for the region and EU once again.
Turkey has made great contributions to restoring peace and stability in the region, he said.
EU, which was eager to become a global power, needed Turkey, Davutoglu said.
