Nearly 100 Military Weapons Stolen From Norwegian Army Camp

OSLO, Aug 26 (AFP) - Close to 100 military weapons, including assault rifles and a precision sniper rifle, were stolen from a military camp near Lillehammer in southeastern Norway, local police said on Thursday.
"We're talking about 50 to 70 AG-3 assault rifles, 20 guns and one precision rifle," local police officer Olav Soerby told AFP.
Investigators still don't know how the thieves got into the arms depot or whether or not they had accomplices on the inside.
According to Norwegian public radio NRK however, a hole had been found in the fence surrounding the base.
Police said they were particularly interested in an abandoned military vehicle probably used by the thieves to transport their bounty, but said they were still trying to uncover the motive for the crime.
