Turkish Crew Members Aboard Hijacked Ship Are In Good Condition, Official

ANKARA - A Turkish Foreign Ministry official said on Wednesday that the Turkish crew members aboard a hijacked ship were in good condition.
Burak Ozugergin, the spokesman of the ministry, said that the Turkish crew members on a hijacked ship were in good health condition.
"Three Turkish crew members aboard the hijacked Bosphorus Prodigy ship are in good condition," Ozugergin told a press conference in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Ozugergin said that there were three Turkish crew members on the Antigua-Barbuda flagged ship that was hijacked off Somalia on Tuesday, and the ministry was in continuous contact with related authorities.
The spokesman said that around 40 ships had been hijacked so far, and underlined necessity of an international fight against this growing problem.
"Turkey will also join this fight," Ozugergin also said.
A Turkish ship "Neslihan" was hijacked on October 29, and another Turkish ship "Karagol" was hijacked on November 12.
There were 20 Turkish crew members on the ship "Neslihan", and 14 on the ship "Karagol". Both ships are off Somalia, and the crew members are in good condition.
Somali pirates have hijacked 40 ships this year, and are holding 14 ships and 250 crew members.
