ANKARA - Turkey will continue to take necessary measures against the terrorist organization PKK, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that Turkey would continue taking required military and political measures regarding security issues.
"Turkey will continue to take required military and political measures regarding its security within the framework of international law," Burak Ozugergin, the spokesman of the ministry, told a press conference in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Ozugergin said that Turkey aimed to take measures to end the presence of the terrorist organization PKK in the north of Iraq in cooperation with the Iraqi government.
The spokesman referred to the trilateral mechanism among Turkey, Iraq and the United States and said that the three countries decided to take quick and concrete results from that mechanism.
Ozugergin said that executives of the three countries were still discussing the details about the mechanism, which would become operational soon.
"We have expressed our determination to end the presence of the terrorist organization PKK to the central government of Iraq and local authorities. We can say that there is an understanding between the local authorities and us," he said.
Ozugergin expressed Turkey's expectation and belief that the central government of Iraq and local authorities would fulfil their commitments to Turkey.
The spokesman also said that Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari might visit Turkey, but did not say anything definite about the time of the visit.
