ANKARA - French Ambassador in Ankara Bernard Emie said his country worked hard to keep its promise of a fair approach towards Turkey during the French EU Presidency.
Delivering a speech at the luncheon hosted by Turkey's Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, Emie said speed of membership negotiations with Turkey and the EU rested on continuation of political reforms and implementation of the Additional Protocol to the Association Agreement.
Emie said all the dices about Turkey was not cast yet and said they expected to achieve some significant progress in negotiations at the Accession Conference scheduled to take place this weekend.
Emie said Turkish National Programme for adopting EU acquis would provide a key and effective tool and that they were monitoring the adoption process for it.
Commenting on the Cyprus issue, Emie said "we will continue to support the ongoing negotiations aimed at a fair, comprehensive and viable solution of the Cyprus problem within the UN framework."
