LEFKOSA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus said on Tuesday that there was no reason to be pessimistic in Cyprus negotiations at the moment, "we continue to talk. There is progress and we do not talk about the same issues."
Cypriot parties continue to handle matters under the main topic, "Administration and Share of Power" aiming at finding a permanent solution to the Cyprus issue.
Replying to questions of reporters after his meeting with leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Demetris Christofias under the full-fledged talks, Talat said, "we negotiated 'foreign relations' in federal government today. The talks will continue next week."
"It is natural that some arrangements are necessary in foreign relations as it is the matter of federal government. There is need for cooperation agreements with founder states. We agreed on some issues and we could not on some others," Talat said.
Talat said UN executives would not be at the island on December 24 and 29, and scheduled talks on those dates would not take place.
