TRIPARTITE SUMMIT IN CASPIAN
Turkish President Abdullah Gul has meet President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov of Turkmenistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for much more cooperation in the region. New energy projects were high on agenda of the tripartite meeting. The leaders also discussed cooperation in tourism.

RED BOOK TO BE UPDATED
The Supreme Military Board will convene on December 2. In line with decisions to be made at the meeting, Turkey's National Military Strategic Document, which is also known as the Red Book, will be updated.

"I LOCKED MYSELF IN BATHROOM"
Yasemin Erden, who survived the Mumbai terror attacks in India, has returned to Turkey. She said after her arrival in Istanbul, "when terrorists stormed the hotel, I locked myself in bathroom. I heard gunshots. I waited for security forces to save me."

GOVERNMENT TO HOLD ALEVI SUMMIT
The Turkish government might meet with the representatives of Alevi community, religious leaders and scholars in a summit as part of its draft plan for Alevis in Turkey. As a novelty, the government would invite to the summit certain Alevi groups that see Alevism as a non-Islamic faith. The government would also talk to other political parties to secure support of parliament to meet demands of the Alevi community.

EP LAWMAKER WARNS AGAINST ISLAMOPHOBIA
Emine Bozkurt, a Dutch member of the European Parliament with Turkish descent, said Islamophobia constituted "a growing problem" in Europe. "The ones we should be afraid of are not marginal politicians but anti-Muslim politicians who fake a moderate face," Bozkurt said.

ERDOGAN TO REVEAL CANDIDATES FOR LOCAL ELECTIONS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said during a meeting of his ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party that he would declare candidates of the political party for the upcoming local elections. "I will reveal names of our candidates on Friday," he said.

Gulsum Tatar competing in 63 kg category and Semsi Yarali competing in 86 kg category have won gold medals in the 5th World Women's Boxing Championships in Ningbo city of the People's Republic of China. Tatar defeated her Russian opponent Liubov Lopatina 11-0 and became world champion while Yarali beat her Romanian opponent Adriana Hosu 7-2.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has harshly reacted to criticisms against his ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party. "Those who filed tho closure case against the AK Party will account for what they did. They say that I am angry. In fact, I am talking about facts. ALEVI LEADERS IN TURKEY CALL FOR EQUAL STATE TREATMENT OF FAITHS
Leaders of the Alevis in Turkey urged the state authorities to stand at an equal distance from every religious faith during a grand convention on Saturday, calling for the recognition of "the Alevi identity" and a legal status for their worshiping houses, or "cemevis." They also called for the abolishment of the Directorate General of Religious Affairs, and cancellation of compulsory religious classes in schools.

LABORERS WARN GOVERNMENT
Tens of thousands of workers protested the Justice and Development (AK) Party government on Saturday at a rally in Ankara, the Turkish capital. Major labor unions, non-governmental organizations and political parties gathered at the rally for "Labor, Peace and Democracy Against Unemployment, Poverty and Price Hikes," saying "the laborers will not pay the price" for the global financial crisis.

Istanbul stock exchange has currently been 50-80 percent under its highest levels. Analysts consider the current levels quite "appealing" although they do not tell their clients directly to buy shares.

A RALLY OF 80 THOUSAND
Some 80 thousand people have converged to the Turkish capital Ankara to protest the government's economy policies at a rally held by the country's two biggest labor unions. They chanted slogans against the government and Prime Minister Revcep Tayyip Erdogan. Meanwhile, clashes erupted when police officers do not allow protestors to carry clubs for their banners.

CLASHES DURING RALLY
A group of people who called themselves "Anarchists" has clashed with security forces during a rally held by Turkey's two biggest unions in the capital city Ankara to protest unemployment, rising prices and poverty. Security forces used teargas to disperse stone-throwing protesters. Several protestors and six police officers were were injured.

THOUSANDS PROTEST GOVERNMENT AMID FALLOUT FROM GLOBAL FINANCIAL MALADY
Around 50 thousand people gathered Saturday in a rally in the Turkish capital, Ankara, protesting the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party as the impact from a global financial turmoil had began hitting the country. Two major Turkish labor unions, non-governmental organizations and a number of opposition parties had joined the rally to say "we will not pay the price for the crisis."

BUSINESS CIRCLES CALL FOR ECONOMIC PACKAGE, WARN AGAINST THREATS
Heads of Turkey's two major business conglomerates has called for an extensive package of economic measures and they warn against "the inherent threats" countyr's economy vis-a-vis a global financial crisis. Guler Sabanci, head of the Sabanci Holding, told the daily Milliyet certain measures taken over the last couple of months had failed to make the desired effects, adding that a strong, all-inclusive economic package was needed to create an environment of confidence. Bulent Eczacibasi, head of the Eczacibasi Holding, said Turkey had an experienced economic management with skills to overcome the dire times but warned against what he described as "the inherent threats within the genes of Turkey's economy."

THREE STATES, SINGLE NATION
President Abdullah Gul has meet President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov of Turkmenistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan during his visit to Turmenistan. Speaking at the meeting, Gul said, "we are three states, but single nation. Our friendly relations remove all borders among our countries." President Berdymuhammedov of Turkmenistan also gave messages of unity and friendship.

GREAT ACHIEVEMENT IN BOXING
Gulsum Tatar competing in 63 kg category and Semsi Yarali competing in 86 kg category have won gold medals in the 5th World Women's Boxing Championships in Ningbo city of the People's Republic of China. Turkey was ranked second after winning two gold and two bronze medals.
