BERLIN, Aug 25 (AFP) - German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer begins Friday a five country tour of the Middle East, including a visit to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, his office said.
Fischer's tour will focus on the conflict between the two and other developments in the region, a foreign ministry spokesman said Wednesday.
The minister starts his trip in Lebanon then travels to Syria, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories, and finally Egypt, a spokesman said.
Fischer is perceived as an honest broker by the protagonists in the Middle East conflict and has become a key negotiating partner between them.
